Kent Rice began his neuromonitoring career in 1992 with Biotronic NeuroNetwork after completing a Master’s degree in Bioengineering at the University of Michigan. With the rapid growth of the company, Kent recognized the need for a scalable model of quality assurance and structured education that would ensure a consistent knowledge base and quality of service that could extend nationwide. He created a training program and curriculum that would produce well over 500 CNIM-certified neurophysiologists. Kent has authored and co-authored multiple papers relating to quality and safety related issues in IONM, spinal monitoring, and false-positive and false-negative issues. Kent obtained his REPT in 1993, CNIM certification in 1996 and then became one of the first Diplomates of the American Board of Neurophysiologic Monitoring upon its formation in 1999, subsequently serving on the board of directors for the ABNM for six years. Kent has been a member of the ASNM since 1993 and served on its board as well as on the Fellowship and Webinar committees. Since the acquisition of Biotronic into Nuvasive Clinical Services, Kent continues to strive for excellence in intraoperative neuromonitoring education.
